Evergreen Township Minutes March 11th, 2025

The Evergreen Township Board met March 11th for their regular meeting at St. Paul’s Evergreen Church.  Present were: Todd & Rana Holmer, Betty Janke, Dwight & Judy Drewes, Brett & Erica Jepson & Scott Ulschmid

Todd called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

Betty read her treasurer’s report of money paid out, money received, money on hand in savings and checking. Balance on hand is $227,995.90. Todd made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Second by Scott. All present in favor.

Todd made a motion to pay bills. Second by Brett.  All present in favor. Bills presented for payment are as follows:   Dan Oelfke $2,175 for 14.5 hours of snow plowing, PERA $317.50 for quarterly DCP, Scott Ulschmid $77.50 for quarterly mileage and cell phone reimburse, Brett Jepson $77.50 for quarterly mileage and cell phone reimburse, Todd Holmer $105.00 for quarterly mileage and cell phone reimburse, Betty Janke $50.00 for computer reimburse, Rana Holmer $165.00 for computer & mileage  reimburse,  and  $2970.21 for total board wages.   No money was needed to be transferred since Becker County deposited in our checking account.

Rana informed County Assn Meeting is March 27 at 7.  Spring Short Course Trainings are 3/28 in Alexandria, 3/31 in Mahnomen and 4/2 in Bemidji from 9-3.  Received a contract from LM Road Services for ditch clipping and spraying,  The costs are $55 per mile for clipping and $4 per gallon for the Mow & Spray Program that sprays noxious weeds and brush in the ditch.  Todd motion to accept the contract and Scott second.  Dwight mentioned that he also has a forestry head on his skid steer that can work in some ditches also.

On 3/3 Brett called Todd about missing signs on 140th/440thNorth/450th.  Missing a double arrow, slow children and a dead end road sign. Also called regarding a hole on 150th st(River Road).  Todd filled the hole and left flags for Brett at his house. Also received numerous calls with trees on the roads due to the high winds we were having that day. On 3/7 on the 140th double arrow sign that was missing the 2 posts were found in the ditch and the chevron sign that was found was replaced using anti theft bolts/nuts and remaining chevron sign bolts bent.  Also found remaining post from the slow children sign in the ditch. On 3/10 ordered replacement dead end and double arrow signs.  Scott wondered about reporting to sheriff, we have done that in the past but they don’t hold out any hope of catching them.  Todd wondered about just replacing the slow children sign with just a culvert marker with an X on it so the short post is marked.  Brett and Scott thought that was a good idea as the slow children sign isn’t needed on that road at this time.

On 3/10 Rana & Todd drove roads and they looked to be in really good shape with minimal gravel loss from plowing.  Todd talked to Merle and he will let us know in a couple weeks if he will be hauling gravel this year.

Todd asked Erica if she had any info from the County.  She said it is very uncertain times with State and Federal funding being questionable.

Having no further business, Todd made a motion to adjourn. Scott second. All present in favor.

Respectfully submitted, Rana Holmer, Clerk
