Evergreen Township Minutes August 10th, 2026

The Evergreen Township Board met August 10th for their regular meeting at St. Paul’s Evergreen Church. Present were: Betty Janke, Rana & Todd Holmer, Brett Jepson and Scott Ulschmid.

Todd called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

Betty read her treasurer’s report of money paid out, money received, money on hand in savings and checking. Balance on hand is $273,886.10 Todd made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Second by Scott. All present in favor.

Todd made a motion to pay bills. Second by Scott. All present in favor. Bills presented for payment are as follows: Dan Oelfke $4875.00 for 32.5 hours of road blading, LM Road Services $1747.50 for Spring ditch clipping, Allen Engle $198 for 66 gophers, Arlen Huwe $18 for 6 gophers, Jeff Holmer $150 for 2 beavers out of Collette Creek culvert, Graham Excavating LLC $1140 to clean Collette Creek culvert of beaver dams on 7/9 & 7/27, Becker County Assessor $4238 for 2025 assessment fee and $491.14 for total board wages. Todd motion to transfer $13,000, second by Brett. All present in favor.

Rana received a letter for the District 9 meeting on August 17in Underwood.. Scott might go. Received our annual MN Department of Revenue Town Aid amount for 2027. It is $3074 higher than 2026 payments.

Brett received a call from Jed Sazama on 8/4 complaining about the road being rough. Todd did note though that the road was rough by Jed’s as he had had some equipment at his place putting in a tar driveway.

Todd said another weed tour was done on 7/12 with notices sent for thistle and Common Tansy. On 7/18 met with a Silverleaf resident regarding his Tansy & Knapweed. On 7/21 the ditches were clipped. On 7/22 sent 7 more notices for Spotted Knapweed & thistle and Jeff started trapping beaver as they are back in the culvert again. After he catches one Grant will need to clean the culvert again. Phil Alajoki also notified they would start hauling gravel first week in August. On 7/24 got a call from an aquatic weed harvesting guy who wanted to know if we had an area in Evergreen to dump the weeds. Told him no. Also talked to Andrew Ingvalson today about gravelling the Fire Road. On 7/25 Jeff caught a beaver. On 7/26 sent more weed notices for Knapweed and Tansy. On 7/27 Grant cleaned culvert again and Dan informed he would be out of town from 7/29 -8/3. On 7/28 sent more Tansy notices and met with a Silverleaf Township resident regarding more spray for Tansy. On 7/29 Brett called about possible Poison Hemlock plant in his mother in laws yard. Turned out to be Queen Anne’s Lace, otherwise known as Wild Carrot. It is a noxious weed and chemicals were given to spray. On 7/30 culvert plugged again, Jeff was contacted. Also contacted County Ag Inspector regarding Wild Carrot and State Hwy 87 weeds and lack of treatment. On 7/31 put a cattle panel in front of the culvert and on 8/3 Jeff caught another beaver. On 8/5 met with a Toad Lake Township resident about Spotted Knapweed and treatment options. Spray was given to them to treat it. On 8/6 met with an Evergreen Township Landowner to identify a weed.

Betty mentioned that the Menahga Concrete checks had went through yet. Todd will check with them to make sure they received both of them.

Having no further business, Todd made a motion to adjourn. All present in favor.
