Meeting Minutes July 2024
Evergreen Township Minutes July 8th, 2024
The Evergreen Township Board met July 8th for their regular meeting at St Paul’s Evergreen Church. Present were: Betty Janke, Rana & Todd Holmer, Scott Ulschmid & Brett Jepson.
Todd called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Betty read her treasurer’s report of money paid out, money received, money on hand in savings and checking. Balance on hand is $224,804.73. Todd made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Second by Scott. All present in favor.
Todd made a motion to pay bills. Second by Scott. All present in favor. Bills presented for payment are as follows: Dan Oelfke $4522.50 for 33.5 hours of road blading, MN Assn of Townships $1282.00 for liability insurance, Becker County Auditor $4036.12 for assessing in 2023, Rana Holmer $1218.00 for 406 gophers, Midwest Specialties $14,616 for Class 5 gravel and $631.46 in total board wages. No funds need to be transferred due to County direct deposit into checking account. All present in favor. Scott motion to transfer $47,000 from our checking to the savings acct, due to higher interest. Second by Brett. All present in favor.
Rana mentioned that we could make a resolution for the County to process our mail ballots for the Primary. Rana’s thoughts are that she has to be trained either way and feels the residents would prefer that someone they know is processing versus someone else. The Supervisor’s agreed, so no motion for the resolution.
Brett received a call on 6/12 regarding lots of cantaloupe size rocks on Cedar Ave that was being gravelled. Todd and Rana went over to pick them off and found 1 rock that size and one softball size rock on the whole road. On 6/18 Brett & Todd checked roads after the storm for downed trees and cut any off that were on the roads. Merle called Todd saying he had fell at home and moving slower than normal and that it will take him a little longer to finish hauling our gravel. Told him not to worry about it as we are only in June. Todd has turned a 2nd notice for weeds over to the County and sent 11 more notices. On 6/27 a hole was discovered on west edge of Balsam north of the Johnson’s residence. Todd has filled the hole for now, but we should keep checking to make sure the culvert isn’t failing. Did put more gravel in the hole on the 28th, but seems to be holding now. On 7/3 L & M called and will spraying the brush and noxious weeds in the ditches next week. On 7/5 Merle called and he is out of gravel and has been hauling from Anderson’s. Todd called him back on the 7th and mentioned the gravel in the Toad Lake pit could be a possibility. Merle will call them.
The County is having all lines surveyed and are starting in the SE corner of the County where section lines are not straight. Potentially could have people upset about them doing this and/or the possibility of line changes.
Having no further business, Todd made a motion to adjourn. All present in favor.
Respectfully submitted, Rana Holmer, Clerk
