Meeting Minutes July 2020

Evergreen Township Minutes July  13th, 2020

The Evergreen Township Board met July 13th for their regular meeting at the Town Hall in order to meet Covid 19 social distancing requirements. Present were: Betty Janke, Rana & Todd Holmer,  Scott Ulschmid and Steve Wilkowski Jr.

Todd called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

Betty read her treasurer’s report of money paid out, money received, money on hand in savings and checking. Balance on hand is $140,832.99. Todd made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Second by Scott. All present in favor.

Todd made a motion to pay bills. Second by Scott.  All present in favor. Bills presented for payment are as follows:  Lake Region Electric $31.85 for electric at town hall,  Dan Oelfke $3450.00 for 34.5 hours of road blading, LM Road Services $857.50 for Spring ditch clipping, Maggie Ulschmid $148.50 for 54 gophers, Midwest Specialties $9522.00 for 828 yds of gravel, board wages of $456.08.  No funds need to be transferred due to County direct deposit into checking account. All present in favor.

Todd reported  on 6/9 he had called Dan to reclaim 430th Ave and center mile of 120th st.  On 6/11, Todd called Dan back after reclaiming 430th due to big mounds of dirt in the ditch Dan came back and smoothed out at no charge to the township.  On 6/12 did 15 weed notices for mostly thistles, spotted knapweed and leafy spurge.  On 6/14, talked to Merle he is low on gravel and working to get someone to crush more.  Todd asked if he could do small patch on 100th st and he said he would do it next.  Also called Grant Graham regarding his gravel pit for gravel next year.  He said he sold half of it to Height of Land Township and would need to figure a price to haul to our township.  On 6/23 cleaned culvert on 120th st and beavers haven’t been back so far.  On 7/1 cleaned steel that had blown on to 120th st after high winds the night before.  On 7/12 sent 3 more weed notices and 3 from previous weed check were sent to the County Ag Inspector.  Read online today regarding CARES Act funding stipulations for townships.  Doesn’t seem that we will be eligible.

Todd also on last weed inspection noted roads that ditches should be sprayed for noxious weeds.  Mostly spot spraying and should be able to do the whole township within 5-6 hours.  Board approved and Todd will contact LM Road Services.  Also sent the County Ag inspector the list of county and state highways that need weeds sprayed.

No bill from the irrigation company yet for the valve we had put on Andrew Ingvalson’s irrigator so the fire department could connect to fill their water tanks.

Todd wondered if we should be contacting Dwight Drewes regarding snow plowing this winter.  Board agreed that it is beneficial to have Dwight do our township since we are the only one he does so our service is pretty fast.  Todd will call him and ask.  We also need to go around to show him where to turn around on the dead end roads so we aren’t plowing residents yards.  Also need to talk to Lowell Baumgart regarding moving his mailbox to the north side of Juniper to make it easier for snow plowing.

Having no further business, Steve made a motion to adjourn.  All present in favor.

Respectfully submitted, Rana Holmer, Clerk
