Meeting Minutes January 2022
Evergreen Township Minutes January 10, 2022
The Evergreen Township Board met January 10th for their regular meeting at Betty Janke’s home. Present were: Betty Janke, Rana & Todd Holmer, Scott Ulschmid, Dwight Drewes & Ross Hetherington. Steve Wilkowski Jr was absent.
Todd called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Betty read her treasurer’s report of money paid out, money received, money on hand in savings and checking. Balance on hand is $189,569.55. Todd made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Second by Scott. All present in favor.
Todd made a motion to pay bills. Second by Scott. All present in favor. Bills presented for payment are as follows: Lake Region Electric $35.73 for electric at town hall, Dennis Drewes Inc $4062.50 for 32.5 hours of snow plowing, Becker County Assn of Townships $468.96 for dues, MN Assn of Townships $1232.00 for liability insurance for 2022 and Rana Holmer $102.87 for reimbursement of website domain and privacy protection annual renewal. Todd motion to transfer $5000, second by Scott.
Todd motioned to raise Dennis Drewes Inc snowplowing rate to $125 per hour and raise the retainer accordingly. Second by Scott.
Ross Hetherington was at the meeting to hear what ideas the board is working on to make corrections to his road, the east end of 120th. Todd mentioned our preliminary plan is to move Craig Bruns’s field approach at top of hill and move it to the west and add a culvert. We would add ditches on the south side of road in that area and remove any trees. This would give snow and rain some place to go instead of on the road, which then gets to be a mess. Todd has talked to Craig and he is on board with us moving the approach. Dwight mentioned that possibly the dirt that comes from digging the ditch out could be used to raise the road if it is the right soil, otherwise Craig has a hole in his yard that we could dump everything into. We will be working on getting this done this summer after we get some quotes. Hard to get until after the snow melts.
Rana reported that Lowell & Karen Skoog do not want to take on more townships for assessing at this time. Lisa Will, the Becker County Assessor, said the cost would be $4036.12 to do our township with no contracts. Our contract with Wes expires after 2021 and we were currently paying him $3300. Todd motion to go with the County starting in 2022, second by Scott.
Todd talked to L&M Road Services and Cro’s for ditch clipping in 2022, neither of them will do it. Contacted a Jeremy Hensel who also does ditches. He is interested and was sent a road map for an estimate and he does have the required insurance. Hopefully we hear back from him by next month.
Scott brought a copy of the letter that Corliss received from Ottertail County regarding the shared culvert on west 100th st. They are looking at it being repaired due to the sufficiency rating has dropped enough that it will need to be addressed in next few years. MNDOT has funding available to cover a large chunk of the costs with about $30,000 needing to be covered by the township, which would be split between Evergreen & Corliss. Rana will make copies of the letter so everybody can read it in detail.
Having no further business, Todd made a motion to adjourn. All present in favor.
Respectfully submitted, Rana Holmer, Clerk
