Evergreen Township Minutes December 13, 2021
The Evergreen Township Board met December 13th for their regular meeting at Betty Janke’s home. Present were: Betty Janke, Rana & Todd Holmer, Scott Ulschmid, & Steve Wilkowski Jr.
Steve called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Betty read her treasurer’s report of money paid out, money received, money on hand in savings and checking. Balance on hand is $134,825.04 Todd made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Second by Scott. All present in favor.
Steve made a motion to pay bills. Second by Todd. All present in favor. Bills presented for payment are as follows: Lake Region Electric $18.46 for electric at town hall, Scott Ulschmid $77.50 for mileage and cell reimburse, Steve Wilkowski Jr $105.00 for mileage and cell reimburse, Todd Holmer $152.50 for mileage, machine use and cell reimburse, Betty Janke $50.00 for computer reimburse, Rana Holmer $125.00 for computer reimburse, PERA $190.00 for quarterly DCP, and $1777.45 in total board wages. No transfer needed this month since Becker County deposits into our checking account. Todd motion to move everything, except approximately $1,000 in the checking as we get better interest in our savings. Second by Steve.
Rana informed what she learned at the Clerk’s Training on 12/7:
* ARPA- have plan in place by 12/2024 and can spend funds until 12/2027
* Possible redistricting in Becker County due to the census, potentially all 5 commissioners could be up for election in 2022.
*County has Family Childcare grants of up to $10,000 available for starting a new childcare facility.
* Also have grants for existing childcare due to Covid interruptions/closures etc. The funds are calculated per child.
Todd informed that on 12/5 the Frazee Fire Department used the water hook up on Andrew’s irrigator for the Chuck Lepisto fire. They used a total of 30,000 gallons, which was reported to Andrew. On 12/9 Andrew informed Todd that his well had froze up at the irrigator, but he got it thawed with no damage. Apparently a drain back had not functioned correctly. Todd informed the fire department & attached a wrench by the valve in case they need to open the valve up so it drains back. Todd also plowed the road again with his skid steer. Due to the road being field level it drifts in easily.
Steve informed that he had contacted Dwight on snow plowing and he will go whenever we need him to go and will even go early if it snows overnight. Dwight did mention the Fire Rd being an issue since it is field height and we should look at raising it up a little with more gravel. We will have to talk to Andrew about it first. Steve also mentioned Dan contacting him and mentioning the ditch clipper was going to fast and then the grass gets rolled up into the gravel.
Todd asked who we were going to get for ditch clipping in 2022? We could try Cro’s Custom, maybe L & M Road services, see who is doing Corliss. Todd will check with Cro’s & L & M on ditch mowing and weed spraying. We would like to get someone set up early in 2022.
Steve brought a letter from the County Assessor, Lisa Will, stating our Assessor, Wes Hegna, has not turned his paperwork into them yet and it is late. Rana mentioned that she has a hard time getting a hold of him for his certificate of liability. Rana also has talked to or heard about 3 other townships that he has not turned their paperwork in either. Rana would like to look at getting a different assessor starting in 2022. After some discussion Todd motioned that the Clerk check with Becker County & Lowell Skoog to see if they would give us an estimate for assessing. Second by Steve.
Having no further business, Steve made a motion to adjourn. All present in favor.
Respectfully submitted, Rana Holmer, Clerk
