Meeting Minutes January 2023

Evergreen Township Minutes January 9, 2023

The Evergreen Township Board met January 9th for their regular meeting at Betty Janke’s  home. Present were: Betty Janke, Rana & Todd Holmer, Scott Ulschmid, Dwight Drewes & Brett Jepson.

Todd called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

Betty read her treasurer’s report of money paid out, money received, money on hand in savings and checking. Balance on hand is $201,512.42.  Betty noted that there is a correction for December’s balance on hand.  It should have been $150,781.10 instead of $152,781.10. Todd made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report and to update December’s balance. Second by Scott. All present in favor.

Rana said we need to have someone make a motion for a chairman of the board now that Steve is no longer on.  Scott motion for Todd and Brett second.  All present in favor.  Rana also noted that after the December meeting when she went to United Community Bank website to transfer money it was noted that a deposit from Becker County of $45,906.36 had been deposited, so there was no need for a transfer in December either.  She notified Betty that a transfer had not been done.  Rana also heard from Craig Bishop, that is working on our IRS problem, and it sounds like it will be corrected in the next couple weeks.

Todd made a motion to pay bills. Second by Scott. All present in favor. Bills presented for payment are as follows: Lake Region Electric $35.74 for electric at town hall,  Dennis Drewes Inc $4900.00 for 35 hours of snow plowing,  Rana Holmer $98.05 for reimbursement of website domain and privacy protection annual renewal, IRS for 944 quarterly $297.98 & PERA for DCP $295.00.  No transfer needed this month.

Todd talked to Dwight Drewes today regarding some concerns with snowplowing.  There is a piece of equipment parked in approach by Stanley Malikowski’s that he normally uses to turn around.  Stanley has plowed an area on the west side of the driveway for hi to use this year.  Rana thinks the equipment is Marvin Byer’s since he owns that land.  We can let him know for next year to not park it there.  Dwight also brought up Lowell Baumgart’s mailbox still getting knocked off.  Todd talked to Lowell and he said to just let it fall off into the ditch and he will put it back on.  Dwight mentioned that there maybe some areas that will need to be pushed back if we get much more snow.  Todd motion for Dwight to push the areas back if need be.  Second by Scott.  All present in favor.

Scott brought up his sister & brother in law purchasing land north of Cedar Ave by Chuck Lepisto’s.  They are wondering about access to the land and what happened to the road property after it was vacated.  Rana will look at the old road records to see what she can find.

Todd mentioned that we need to decide what to do with the Town Hall building this summer, as it isn’t cost effective for us to fix it.  Betty mentioned that the Pioneer Grounds in Perham is applying for a grant to move it to their land.  We will wait to see if they receive the grant before deciding.

Rana mentioned that a quite a bit of money is sitting in the checking account that would get more interest in the Money Market.  Todd motion to transfer $30,000 to Money Market, second by Scott.  All present in favor.

Having no further business, Todd made a motion to adjourn. Scott second. All present in favor.

Respectfully submitted, Rana Holmer, Clerk
